Pandora from Overseas.

If you live in the states by now you’ve probably already heard of Pandora, the internet radio service that builds a custom radio station of only music you like, and even suggests new music based on what you tell it you like. If you do live in the states, then you certainly don’t need to be reading this and can head straight over to Pandora.com to check it out. However, for those of us expatriates or those of us who don’t live in the states the following info may come in handy.http://www.pandora.comshapeimage_3_link_0

The problem for those of us outside the U.S. is that Pandora has only licensed the songs it plays for use within the states, and therefore when it detects your foreign IP address it will present you with a delightfully annoying little message telling you that it is not currently offered in your location and there is nothing you can do except wait, join a mailing list and pout. However, getting around this little problem is actually quite easy. For the tech savvy you simply need to set up an anonymous proxy and you’re done. If that sounds like complicated jargon to you, you’re in luck! There is a very easy and relatively automated way to set everything up for you! Just follow the steps below:

  1. 1.Go Here and download the Hotspot Sheild application.

  2. 2.Open the dmg file and run the Hotspot Shield installer package OR For windows users just run and install the .exe installer file and follow the onscreen instructions.

  3. 3.Run Hotspot Shield, this should open up your browser where you will click yet another ‘Run Hotspot Shield’ link. This will take you to a new page where Hotspot Shield will connect your computer to an anonymous proxy. Wait until you see the ‘connected’ green text or until you are transferred to the hotspot homepage. You can now close the browser or navigate to a new page.

  4. 4.Head on over to: http://www.pandora.com and enjoy the music!
